Education
Duration: 3-month certification program Eligibility: Open to women from vulnerable backgrounds, including refugees, single mothers, and those lacking formal education Capacity: 40 participants per cohort
Our flagship vocational training program provides comprehensive skills development in professional hair braiding techniques. The curriculum includes:
- Traditional and contemporary braiding methods
- Customer service and salon management
- Workplace professionalism
- Basic financial literacy
- Health and safety standards
Participants receive hands-on training in our specialized facilities, which include childcare services to ensure mothers can fully participate. Upon completion, graduates receive nationally recognized certification developed in partnership with the Directorate of Industrial Training.
Business
Duration: 6-month support program
Eligibility: Graduates of the Professional Training Program interested in entrepreneurship
For graduates interested in establishing their own businesses, our incubation program provides:
- Advanced business planning and management training
- Micro-grants and equipment support
- Mentoring from established salon owners
- Marketing and client development guidance
- Ongoing technical support
Participants develop comprehensive business plans and receive staged support for implementation, including potential inclusion in our franchising program for qualifying entrepreneurs.
EMPLOYMENT
Eligibility: Graduates of the Professional Training Program
Not all graduates seek to become entrepreneurs. Our employment pathway facilitates:
- Job placement within Tshani-operated salons
- Connections with our network of partner salons
- Ongoing professional development
- Career advancement training
This program ensures all graduates have access to immediate income opportunities while continuing to develop their skills and professional experience.
Mentorship
Duration: 12-month program Eligibility: Young women ages 16-24 from vulnerable backgrounds
Our newest program focuses on early intervention to guide young women toward skill-based livelihoods:
- Career guidance and life skills
- Introduction to professional braiding
- Educational support and scholarship connections
- Internship opportunities
- Personal development coaching
By engaging young women before they face unemployment challenges, we help shape sustainable career pathways from an early stage.
